BMW is currently working on the largest range electric car M5 sedan with 1006 horsepower! At least that's what the British magazine Car report. According to their information, the sedan will have three 250 kW engines to achieve this power.
While BMW has just recently unveiled its electric SUV BMW iX3, the British magazine Car reveals a new project of the German manufacturer. According to their information, BMW is currently working on the development of a new electric version of the M5. This sedan can be the largest range electric car with 1006 horsepower!
The longest range electric car with three 250 kW engines
This all-electric M5 features a 135 kWh, 400-volt battery with a range of 435 miles (700 kilometers). If these performances are already tempting, one wonders how BMW plans to endow its electric M5 with 1006 horsepower. According to Car, the company has opted for three 250 kW electric motors (one front and two rear).
These are the only information we have on the electric M5 at the moment. A few weeks ago, BMW cancelled its project for a plug-in hybrid supercar: the Vision M Next. A cancellation in favor of this electric M5? The hypothesis is probable. As a reminder, the German manufacturer recently said goodbye to its legendary BMW i8.
The hybrid coupé capable of developing 170 kW will no longer be produced. This car with an avant-garde design had impressed the public when it was released in 2014. With its futuristic lines, its graceful curves, its top speed of 250 km/h (thanks to the electric motor and petrol combo) and above all its price of €145,950 (excluding the ecological bonus), the i8 was logically reserved for a wealthy clientele.
In spite of a rather high price, BMW announces having sold nearly 20,000 units. A great performance. The i4 concept car, recently unveiled by BMW, is furiously reminiscent of the i8 and is already establishing itself as a worthy successor.
