The Witcher on Netflix: new songs on the program

"Toss a Coin to Your Witcher" is one of the defining symbols of The Witcher's first season. But we will soon have to revise our musical repertoire...

If Geralt de Riv, the character played by Henry Cavill in the Netflix series The Witcher has become so popular, it is partly thanks to the talent of the actor, but also thanks to a little song, which quickly became iconic, a real chorus on the screen, but also for those who watched the series.

Toss a coin to your witcher, oh valley of plenty, oh valley of plenty! Oh, oh, oh, oh!

As a sign of its popularity, the song was quickly released on the Spotify platform

And this, even though Joey Baty, the actor who plays Jaskier, the Witcher's travelling companion, didn't hold back his critics.

It's the most painful thing I've ever heard. It's so catchy.

"Bad" news, the sequel could be on its way.

New songs for The Witcher

It's Lauren S. Hissrich, the showrunner who revealed this information in an interview with the American media TV Guide. She first of all acknowledged that the success of the first song was a surprise and that the team had even hesitated before integrating it.

When we wrote the song, I had no idea whether it would work or not. Honestly, there came a point when I even thought, 'What were we thinking about when we thought we were going to put a song like that in the middle of this episode? It's crazy.

But from now on, the show's intention is to get Batey to sing as often as possible.

And I also think the idea of storytelling is very important in The Witcher, the idea of the one who tells the stories. So we're clearly going to continue to use it.

Now we just have to come up with a new song. As for knowing what exactly is waiting for us, it's probably difficult to know at the moment. The first song has a rather particular genesis, as you were told recently. So be patient. The next season of The Witcher is scheduled for 2021.
