WhatsApp has recently submitted a few new updates through the TestFlight beta Program (currently closed), bringing the version up to 188.8.131.52.
In an update to the beta program in TestFlight, WhatsApp received a tool for editing and modifying wallpapers. No longer depending on the cell phone gallery, the version adds a file browser, new options on the wallpapers and allows direct opacity control from the settings menu.
The tool is still exclusive for users who participate in the beta program and have downloaded version 184.108.40.206+. With it, WhatsApp becomes capable of browsing smartphone gallery files, offers a new selection of 32 light, 30 dark and solid color wallpapers (similar to whatsApp for desktop) and allows you to configure a wallpaper for each chat.
Once you have chosen a photo for the background, WhatsApp offers a control for opacity, adjusting it by a horizontal bar. It is especially useful for wallpapers with many details or with colors that blend in with the chat tones. Besides, it is up to the user to add or not the WhatsApp Doodle on the wallpaper, providing another small layer of customization.
Where to find it?
For program participants, the tool is found in the "Contact Info" or "Group Info" section and then "Wallpaper and sound". From there, just choose the option you like the most and adjust the opacity to your taste.
This same optional Doodle has recently arrived on WhatsApp Web. The option can be found in Settings > Chat Wallpaper > "Add WhatsApp Doodles". It is not yet available for everyone, so be aware of updates provided by Microsoft Store.
New Security Features
In another update to the Beta program, WhatsApp has hidden one of the next security tools that will enter the application soon. It is a simple adjustment to the change notification in the encryption key of each chat (when available), to alert the sender of possible attacks.
For both, there is no release schedule for any of the new features in the public version of WhatsApp. Since it is the Beta program, the news may take a while to arrive.
