Microsoft Teams finally allows you to appear offline. At the dawn of a second lockdown, the collaborative work service now lets its users disappear from the radar of their colleagues or their manager. In a second step, Microsoft will also allow users to define the duration of their new status display.
While telecommuting is once again the norm, Microsoft Teams has just passed the 115 million daily user mark, i.e. 50% more users than 6 months before the lockdown. Building on this growing popularity, Teams regularly adds new features to prevent users from turning to Zoom, Google Meet and other competing services.
Recently, collaboration software has deployed an option called Together. It allows users to meet in a 100% virtual meeting room. But that's not all. Microsoft Teams is finally allowing its users to appear offline. The service thus catches up with Zoom, Skype, Google Meet and others. The option has appeared in recent weeks to users around the world.
Teams allows users to appear offline for 7 days
Until now, Teams only offered the following statuses: available, busy, do not disturb and absent. It was therefore impossible to disappear from the sight of your colleagues or your boss, for confidentiality reasons for example. But now, the application also allows you to make yourself invisible. This way, you will avoid unwanted requests from your colleagues.
Nevertheless, you will still be able to consult the status of your colleagues. As with Skype, you can send messages or make calls while appearing offline. Attention, Microsoft Teams will automatically reset your status after 7 days. After a week invisibly, you will appear again as "available".
During the month of November, Microsoft will add an option that will allow users to configure how long their current status should be maintained. The application will let you choose between one week, one day, 2 hours, 1 hour and 3 minutes. Once this time has elapsed, you will be displayed again as "available".
