"Demand for the PS5 is unprecedented and we can confirm that more PS5s will be arriving at our dealers by the end of the year. »
By surpassing the scores of the
PS4, the new PS5 achieved the best launch in the history of video game
It certainly won't have escaped you, Sony has just launched its PS5 in Europe, after a launch on November 12th in the United States and Japan. A launch that takes place in a very particular context, with notably a lockdown, but also a very (very) limited stock of PS5s.
It is now obvious that it will not be easy for gamers to get their hands on a PS5 for a few weeks, or even a few months. A generalized shortage that obviously makes many gamers grind their teeth, but that doesn't prevent Sony from claiming "the biggest console launch (PlayStation)" .
Sony therefore confirms that the PS5 managed to do better than the PS4 in 2013, which was then credited with 2.1 million sales in just two weeks of marketing. A record for PlayStation at the time, and a record in itself, as it was confirmed a few days later that the PS4 launch was the best console launch in the history of video games.
Even though the numbers are not yet official (we're talking about 2.3 million sales), by outperforming the PS4, Sony's newest next-gen console logically earned the status of "best launch ever". PlayStation says: "Demand for the PS5 is unprecedented and we can confirm that more PS5s will be arriving at our dealers by the end of the year. »
Indeed, a "second wave" of PS5s is currently underway at many resellers, and new PS5 consoles will be shipped by some retailers just before Christmas. Of course, if you haven't pre-ordered your PS5 yet, it goes without saying that there's very little chance you'll be able to enjoy the console over the holidays.
