Tesla could develop a compact and more affordable model for the European market, said Elon Musk.
The American manufacturer plans to have this new model designed and
manufactured in Europe.
Tesla's boss, Elon Musk, has the ambition to design a new model more adapted to the European market. This is what he revealed, this Tuesday, November 24, during a press conference organized online by the German government about the batteries of its electric vehicles, reports Reuters.
The idea was born in Elon Musk's mind after a stay in Berlin, Germany, during which he encountered difficulties in finding a parking space for his Tesla Model X. The Tesla Model X is 5 meters long. "In the United States, cars tend to be larger for personal taste, in Europe they tend to be smaller," said the boss of the American manufacturer.
With European designers and engineers
So he said he could produce a more compact vehicle than Tesla's current five-door offerings, but at an affordable price. This car could be designed and manufactured in Europe. "There are a lot of talented designers and engineers in Europe ... and they won't want to settle for a European version developed in California," Musk said. Musk also said he was "excited about the idea of making original designs in Europe.
With this type of initiative, Tesla hopes to get back into the race against its main competitors in Europe, namely Volkswagen, Renault and also the PSA Group.
