Sony confirms Android 11 Xperia rollout timeline
Sony Xperia Smartphones will begin, from this month, to receive an update to the operating system to the latest version of Android 11. The owners of the flagship device Xperia 1 II will be the first to download the update .
It is noted that along with the transfer to the Android 11 platform, the Xperia 1 II model will receive 4K HDR video recording at 120 frames per second. Perhaps other innovations will be implemented.
At the end of January, the Android 11 update will be available for two more smartphones - Xperia 5 II and Xperia 10 II. And from February, owners of Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 will be able to switch to this software platform.
Meanwhile, at least three new Sony smartphones are expected to debut in the first quarter of the coming year - the Xperia L5 and Xperia 10 III models, as well as the new flagship Xperia 1 III. It is logical to assume that these devices will ship with the Android 11 operating system out of the box.
According to Gartner estimates, in the third quarter of this year, 366.7 million smart cellular devices were delivered to the global market. This is 5.7% less than last year's result.
